I was 10 years old when i visited the Northern Areas Of Pakistan. These areas consist of Gilgit,Chitral,Hunza,Kaghan where these areas are mostly characterized by snow capped peaks with huge glaciers.Pakistan is well-known for its beautiful Northern areas. These areas are truly called a
visitor’s paradise. But when it comes to education the literacy rate in northern areas is very disappointing.Much of the Northern Areas is belong to by a very low economic growth rate combined with a high rate of population growth which prevents growth in the already low level of per capita income. The people who are living their are having a hard life due to lack of infrastructure for example bridges on the rivers, roads.
Most of the people in Northern Areas are involve in Agriculture where they grow wheat, rice barley, maize and vegetables. In winters where weather is very severe because of extreme coldness people work in cottages and small scale industries where they made handicraft items the foreign tourists who visit these places value these products. Scenic beauty promotes tourism which is also source of income for local people.
It has also got hydroelectric potential but it needs a huge capital investment which is not available in Pakistan.
There are lots valuable minerals located in Northern Places but due to the difficulty of extracting them they have not been explored or exploited yet.
